this is my fav bc an actual major cause for the fall of rome was the resistance of the wealthy to paying taxes which led to a crumbling of infrastructure but who cares about thaaaaat

“Feminism killed Rome” is my new favorite sentence of all time.

Also ballooning military spending, a widening gap between rich and poor, religious intolerance following the Emperor’s embrace of Christianity, and lead poisoning of the water supply.

Reading about Congress bills can be dry, so here’s a quick thread on the eight bills (among 2,000 - according to Al Jazeera English) introduced since Trump took office in January.

I will update this post with a link explaining each bill - which has far-reaching and devastating consequences for Americans, especially low-income Americans - in a very short bit.

Here is a brief description of each bill in easy-to-understand language.

Fun how the only President in decades to keep his campaign promises was elected on the promise of making the world a living hell.

Things You Forgot You Used To Do

I mean I certainly remember getting yelled at for not going back to turn off the computer once it was finally done shutting down.

Why you gotta hurt me like this

Hundreds arrested in multiple cities over the weekend thanks to surge of ICE raids

Immigration officials insisted that these recent arrests of undocumented immigrants were routine and not tied to any new crackdown. But Trump’s own words prove that this account is completely false.

i’m getting messages like “i’m sorry about what happened in sweden last night” and i’m sitting here like “???? what happened????”

turns out trump had a speech where he talked about terrorism and said “You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden… Sweden!” but nothing actually happened here and our government is now trying to figure out what he was talking about ????? ? ? ????? ? ?????????????????

So according to computer scientists, the election results might have been hacked in 3 important swing states. x x

“The scientists, among them J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, told the Clinton campaign they believe there is a questionable trend of Clinton performing worse in counties that relied on electronic voting machines compared to paper ballots and optical scanners”

are you SHITTING ME

Jill Stein is doing something tangibly useful for once by funding a recount in these states that you can contribute to here.

Donations have slowed down hugely, so I figured this needs to come back.

In answer to something I’ve seen floating around: Yes, the goal has gone up twice. No, this isn’t shady at all.

They set goals based on the estimated cost of a recount in each state in turn. I first saw this page when the target was 2.5 mil, and even then it clearly explained that, with fees, attorney costs, recount watchers, etc factored in, the total bill for all three states was expected to be 6-7 million. They set the goals so that if theyfailed they could still do something. Now they’re on track to do everything.

If we can get them the rest of the way there.

THEY NEED $500,000 MORE BY MIDNIGHT TONIGHT
